Set up to improve the inclusion of under-served, racially-minoritised communities in research. Led by grassroots community partners, it connects people researching and working in health and care with voluntary and community organisations, and public contributors. It aligns local research with Integrated Care System projects and priorities. Its purpose is to: -build trusted relationships between researchers and diverse communities to improve how research is done long term, rather than project by project; -pass on to communities what is learned from research so that they can benefit from this knowledge, and ensure insights from communities are shared within the health and care system; -identify ways that research can address race-related health inequalities.

The Joint Strategic Needs Assessment reports on the health and wellbeing needs of people within a local authority area. It brings together detailed information on local health and wellbeing needs and looks ahead at emerging challenges and projected future needs.

The Bristol Pupil Voice report provides a detailed insight into the behaviours, attitudes and concerns of young people. This insight can be used by those planning and delivering services to appreciate the variation across the city and provide an opportunity to assess the success of projects and initiatives that have already been commissioned.

Numbers of research participants by protected characteristic, caring responsibilities and Index of Multiple Deprivation – this is collected for UHBW research participants (2022-23) and will soon extend to wider BNSSG footprint.

Project working with African and Caribbean heritage communities in Bristol to reduce HIV diagnosis, stigma and generally improve sexual health. Accuracy of data is being reviewed, and the team are working to try and resolve within context of sexual health services.
