Bristol One City Approach in response to the cost of living crisis

As One City we developed a One City approach that set out how we would work together to support the communities most impacted by the rise in the cost of living over the Winter 2022/2023. It built on the hundreds of groups, clubs, and community activities that were already going on in Bristol every week. The One City Cost of Living Approach contributed to four key themes:

  • immediate emergency and welfare support
  • maximising household income and reducing living costs
  • keeping well and
  • community assets and community wealth building.

The approach set out three principal stages to our response to the cost of living crisis: assessing impact, mapping community and civic assets and coordinated action.

In April 2023, we worked to understand the impact of our approach and discuss the key learnings. This included feedback provided by 80 Welcoming Spaces in the city.
